As members of the local Halifax community, we’re all as concerned about our privacy and personal lives as you are. What we can tell you is that most of us are quite recognisable as having been part of the community over the years and if you’ve been to any munches or events in the area, you’ve met some if not all of us.

This question was followed up by the person asking, “[some events] seem to be motivated by making money….” The answer is that we want to bring world-class play events to the Maritimes. And it’s true, that is what we want to do. As we sat around brining this idea to light, we talked about our respective experiences in venues elsewhere that have blown our minds – and our naughty bits – we want one here in Halifax too! We don’t care about making money off these events – we all have careers. But money will be involved – there will be membership fees and event fees. Because quality doesn’t come for free and this community deserves quality events. More on that in another answer.

This requires a two-part answer: We will not be charging membership fees to anyone until they attend their first event. Joining the OGBP list will be free. We are not asking anyone to spend their hard-earned money on a fob or a membership card. You want events and that’s what we want to provide you. The fees will be going to maintaining the club – having this website, promotional materials, paying for security, training, legal fees, ect. Nobody on the committee is seeking compensation for their time, but nobody working the events will be doing so as a volunteer – OGBP fundamentally disagrees with that model.
The second part is going to be answered by our legal counsel:
“If you read the Legal page, you will see a lot of information about how a club like this can even exist in Canada. But the main element to a Canadian sex club, according to the Supreme Court of Canada, is that is has to be a member’s only club and that membership has to be fully aware of what they may be exposed to in the event’s spaces. And in order for any membership to be considered valid by the courts, there has to be consideration between the parties – an exchange of something of value between the organisation and the member. Without that consideration, there is no legally binding contract, and the membership would be seen as a gift or a promise – which isn’t enforceable. Say I give you a shrubbery – a nice shrubbery, not too big – no cost, but it comes with a care manual 50 pages long and the care of this shrubbery will take hours out of each day. It’s not likely to survive, but it doesn’t really matter that much to you, as you didn’t pay for it and it’s not like we’re friends or anything. But if you decide to go to Audrey’s on Portland Street and buy a shrubbery – a really nice one! – for some sum of money, you’re going to value that shrubbery and do what you need to do to make it thrive – because there was consideration in you coming into possession of it. That’s what the court needs to see to make private members’ clubs valid.”

We are trying to design our club and our events to be all-inclusive regardless of sex, gender, race, or age. If you want to be a Receiver – tell us and we’ll design an event for you based on who you are and what you want. If you want to be a Giver, we will make certain that you’re on every guest list where you match with the Receivers’ wish list!

Sure! In order to be as gender-neutral as possible, we are using these terms to describe the people who receive the attention from the people giving the attention. How that all breaks down will be up to the guest(s) of honour at any particular event.

Yes! That is a great point. Here’s how we’re going to do it:
  • You fill out one (or both) of the questionnaires;
  • We will send you the Code of Conduct, Waiver, and Membership forms (the “Contract”) for your review;
  • If you’re satisfied with the Contract, you meet with us in person so that it can be signed;
  • We will then assign you a Member ID number that attaches to your Event Handle;
  • The Contract is stored, in hardcopy only, at our lawyer’s office;
  • Your Questionnaire is entered into our system so we can crosscheck against the other members;
  • When a Receiver (or Receivers) ask for a party to be arranged, we contact their matches and invite them to the event;
  • Upon acceptance of their first invitation, the Giver’s membership fees are due.
  • Upon requesting the party to be arranged, the Receiver’s membership fees are due.
  • Event fees will be due before the start of each event.
  • Everybody shows up at the date & time in question and has an amazing time!
  • You go home and brag all over FL about how much fun you had.

The quickest and fastest way to get a partial STI screening done is by following this link and getting the STI Care Now At-Home Test Kit. The kit tests for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV screening.

If you want testing for hepatitis and syphilis, you still have to make contact with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre to arrange for a blood test. Sadly, the HSHC is obscenely busy and a month’s worth of appointments get filled up in a couple of days.
